A Zine for tomboyx
FASM 430: Professional Portfolio Practices

For my senior capstone project, I wanted to create something deeply personal, so I chose to spotlight tomboyx, a brand that has had a profound impact on my life. As a more masculine-presenting lesbian, I’ve often struggled to find underwear and bras that made me feel comfortable in my own skin. Discovering tomboyx was a turning point because it was the first brand that truly felt like it understood and celebrated people like me.
I decided to create a zine because of its long history in the LGBTQ+ community as a way of sharing stories, ideas, and culture. At a time when many are experiencing digital fatigue, a printed zine offers a tactile experience and a way to feel closer to the brand. I imagined it as a quarterly release that could connect with customers beyond online shopping, especially since tomboyx does not have brick and mortars. It also provides an entry point for people who may not be ready to purchase but want to engage with the brand and its values.

To me, tomboyx is more than clothing. It represents visibility, inclusivity, and community. This zine builds on those ideas, serving as a tangible expression of connection and identity while giving me the chance to combine fashion, design, and storytelling with a brand that means so much to me.
